Kieran's Klasses

Who wants to pay $25+ on adorable pillows they can make themselves. Not I! With this easy Do-It-Yourself you will be able to take your couch from average to excellent. Follow these easy steps and you will have fun, bright pillows to spice up any piece of furniture.

Things you will need:
- 1/2 yards of fabric per pillow
- 1 bag of polyester filling per 12X12 pillow to be safe.
- Thread to match your fabric, preferable for upholstery.

Step 1: Go to your local fabric store and buy at lease 1/2 yard of your fabric of choice along with polyester stuffing. One-third of the bag will fill a 12X12 pillow. I encourage you getting a more thick feeling fabric such as upholstery fabric. It will hold its shape a lot better and I think they look better.

Step 2: Cut your fabric into the shape of your choice.

Step 3: Place the fabric inside out or to where the print is facing each other. If the fabric is the same on both sides then it doesn't matter.

Step 4:  Sew with a 1/2-inch margin around three and a half sides. Make sure to leave an opening to put your stuffing inside.

Step 5: Turn fabric right side out and stuff the pillow.

Step 6: Start with the side that is open and fold the opening down inside the pillow to where it matches the rest of the stitching. Pen it and begin sewing with 1/8-inch margin all around the pillow. This will close your hole as well as make an edge to give the pillow a more decorative feel.

Step 7:  Place it on your furniture of choice and enjoy all the compliments.
